Testing at Millbrook paves the way to cleaner mobility
In the UK, Millbrook’s facilities allow engineers to increase the rate at which they can develop electric and hybrid vehicle powertrains.
It performs comprehensive integration testing of propulsion components in a simulated laboratory environment on its brand new 4WD Powertrain Test System. The facility can replicate a powertrain’s lifecycle to test durability and simulate repeatable real world driving conditions, potentially saving time in development for Real Driving Emissions (RDE) tests.
Millbrook also performs a wide range of performance and durability tests on Electric Drive Units (EDUs) and their components.
Millbrook offers comprehensive battery performance and durability test capabilities that are among the most advanced in Europe.
Engineers are able to cycle complete automotive battery packs rated up to 1,100V, 2,100A and 750kW (continuous) at temperatures from -40°C to 90°C, and to simulate rapid changes in temperature during the cycle.
Millbrook’s test experts can determine the performance of battery modules and packs during crash events or other battery abuse test scenarios, including overcharge, thermal shock, fire and mechanical crush.

Specialising in electric vehicle (EV) powertrain, US-based Millbrook Revolutionary Engineering (Millbrook RE) has recently announced that it will introduce new facilities in California in a response to its customers’ growing requirements.
The new facility will enable customers to perform complex integration testing and validation of EV powertrain components, full powertrains and complete vehicles. It also offers battery simulators rated up to 1,100V, 1,200A and 320kW (continuous) and high-speed motors rated up to 20,000rpm.

5G at Millbrook Proving Ground
Millbrook is hosting the UK 5G test bed for connected and autonomous vehicles at its vehicle proving ground in the UK.
Real-time connectivity with speeds up to 1Gbps enable accurate location and connectivity trials, support the validation of self-driving cars and accelerate the driverless vehicle testing and development in the UK.
Deployment of the network at Millbrook Proving Ground enables self-driving car testing to be carried out in a secure environment using a private, tuneable mobile network. Real-time connectivity offers high data throughput at high speed (up to super-fast 5G mobile streaming).Find out more
Winter testing of electric and hybrid vehicles - all year round
With the addition of new indoor test facilities in 2018, Test World is the first in the industry to offer testing on natural snow, ice and wet and dry asphalt in one location, 365 days a year.
